Sneh Milan Samaroh-2015 Celebrated: 20 April 2015

The 27th Sneh Milan Samaroh was held on 20th April 2015 on the occasion of 120th Birth Anniversary of our Founder Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta, at Vidya Bhawan Auditorium. 

The Chief Guest was Ms. Nafeesa Banu, former teacher of Vidya Bhawan and Vidya Bandhu Shri Chander Singh R. Mehta, Advisor to Hindustan Zinc Limited on C.S.R., Chaired the Samaroh. The Guest of Honor was Shri Riaz Tehsin, President of Vidya Bhawan Society. The guests lighted the lamp and garlanded the photograph of 'Bhai Sahab' Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta. 

Ms. Pushpa Sharma, Vice President of the Sangh, welcomed the guests and presented the report of last year. She mentioned the renovation of classrooms of Senior Section, development of a garden in front of the statue of Shri J.C.W. Rust, complete renovation of Junior School building along with construction of new toilets and shade on the roof, scholarships given by Vidya Bandhus and their affection for their alma mater and participation in its activites and development. As she remembered Late Shri Harish Kapuria, Hony. Secretary of VBVBS who passed away on 27 March 2015, everyone in the auditorium mourned the demise of a dedicated Vidya Bhandhu. His daughter Ms. Chanda, son-in-law Shri Amit and grand children were introduced to the audience; they spoke of his love and devotion for Vidya Bhawan And VBVBS. 

 The 27th issue of 'Vidya Bandhu Mukhapatra', edited by Dr. Kusum Mathur, was released. The issue has been dedicated to Shri Harish Kapuria.. 

In the presence of more than 350 Vidya Bandhus and their family members around 20 students of the batch of 1979-80 were honoured. Retired teachers Dr. Vishwa Vijaya Singh and Ms. Rashida Banu, and mess worker Shri Kishan were felicitated for their services to Vidya Bhawan. Ms. Yashvi, student of Vidya Bhawan School and recipient of Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award, was felicitated by the Sangh.  

Vidya Bandhus of the honoured batch- Ms. Rashmi Surana, Shri Sharat Kataria, Shri Murtza Ali, Shri Praveen Bhatnagar, Shri Jaydeep and others shared their experiences of student life in Vidya Bhawan. The batchmates have re-united two days before and had gone camping too.The batch honoured Shri Jamnala Rao, a dedicated worker of Vidya Bhawan; Vidya Bandhus were ecstatic to hear him sing again the nursery rhymes.  

Shri Gopal Bumb, Recreation Minister of the Sangh, thanked the Vidya Bandhus for their participation. The programme was conducted by Vidya Bandhu Ms. Shubham Sharma; and was followed by a sumptuous Sneh Bhoj. 












Sneh Milan-2014 celebrated: 20 April 2014

The 26th Sneh Milan Samaroh was held on 20th April 2014, 119th Birth Anniversary of our Founder Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta, at Vidya Bhawan Auditorium. 

Rains made the evening pleasent. A slide-show of the developmental works by Vidya Bhawan Vidya Bandhu Sangh at their alma mater greeted Vidya Bandhus as they entered the Auditorium. 

The Chief Guest was Prof. Raghuraj Singh, former teacher of Vidya Bhawan and the programme was presided by Vidya Bandhu Prof. Arun Chaturvedi. The Guest of Honor was Shri Riaz Tehsin, President of Vidya Bhawan Society. The guests lighted the lamp and garlanded the photograph of 'Bhai Sahab' Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta. 

Ms. Pushpa Sharma, Vice-President of the Sangh greeted Vidya Bandhus on behalf of the Sangh and presented the report of major works done by the Sangh in the spirit of Rishi-Rin. 

 The 26th issue of 'Vidya Bandhu Mukhapatra', edited by Dr. Kusum Mathur, was released. The highlights of this issue of 'Mukhapatra' are correspondence between Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta and Shri Minu Masani for establishment of a new kind of University provided by Shri Harish Kapuria and the first all girls' photo of the batch of 1978-79 provided by Ms. Shehnaz Rassawala. The issue was dedicated to Shri Jagat. S. Mehta, first Vidya Bandhu to become President of Vidya Bhawan Society. The new website of Vidya Bhawan Vidya Bandhu Sangh - www.vidyabandhu.org - was also launched. 

Vidya Bandhus presented group song 'Ekta ke swar...' and Shri Nirmal Prakash Nagar presented ghazal. 

Around 30 students of the batch of 1978-79 were honoured at the Sneh Milan Samaroh. They shared their experiences with over 300 Vidya Bandhus who were present with their families. Those who spoke included Prof. Aditya Shastri, Vice-Chancellor of Vanasthali Vidyapeeth; Dr. Pradeep Kumawat, M.D. of Alok Schools; Shri Lav Kumar Modak; and Ms. Rakshita Kothari on behalf of 'Rashmi Dal'. Retired workers Shri Bashir Khan and Shri Heeralal Gameti were honoured by the Sangh.

Most of the students of the batch of 1978-79 met a day before and celebrated the evening with their families. On the morning of 20th April, they visited the school; observed the works being carried out by the Sangh and were enthralled to see their group photos at the Sangh office. They had lunch with members of the Sangh at Junior School.













Vidya Bandhus remember Jagat Mehta: 10 March 2014

A memorial meeting was organised on 10 March 2014 at the Open Air Auditorium of Vidya Bhawan Sr. Sec. School in the memory of Shri Jagat Sinha Mehta, who passed away on 6 March 2014 at the age of 90. He was the first Vidya Bandhu to become President of Vidya Bhawan Society fulfilling the dream of the Founder Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta that students of Vidya Bhawan will look after their alma mater. He served as Foreign Secretary of India between 1976 and 1979. Shri Riaz Tehsin, President of Vidya Bhawan Society; Ms. Pushpa Sharma, Vice-President of Vidya Bandhu Sangh and representatives of other organisations and citizens of Udaipur paid their tribute to Shri Mehta. His daughter Ms. Vijaya and sons Shri Vikram, Shri Ajay and Shri Uday were present along with other family members. The memorial meeting was jointly organised by Vidya Bhawan Society, Vidya Bhawan Vidya Bandhu Sangh, Seva Mandir, Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta Memorial Trust and Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti.

Basant Panchami: 4 February 2014

The beginning of Basant, the festival of spring, was celebrated on 4th February 2013 at the old Saturday Assembly area. Vidya Bandhus participated in the cultural programmes, which are held under the aegis of Rituraj, the King of Seasons. A student was dressed as Rituraj Basant and was seated on the stage. The arena was decorated in colours of spring. Celebrating his 95th Basant, one of the senior most Vidya Bandhus Shri K.L. Bapna, fondly called 'Kanji Kaka', sang and danced on popular Rajasthani songs. Shri Ajay Mehta, Vice-President VBS, Prof. D.N. Dani and Ms. Manorma Dani and Vidya Bandhu Shri Vijay Sinha Mehta, Shri Harish Kapuria, Shri Jagmohan Dave, Prof. M.P. Sharma, Prof. Arun Chaturvedi, Ms. Asha Porwal, Shri Saeed Ahmed, Shri J.P. Shrimali, Shri Rewati Raman Shrimali, Shri Naseem Ahmed, Shri Rajesh Bhatt were present. Dr. Daya Dave, former Asst. Professor, was the Chief Guest and Ms. Pushpa Sharma, former Principal, presided over the programme. Shri E.H. Qazi, Principal, Vidya Bhawan Sr.Sec. School welcomed the guests and presented an overview of the function.

Participation in Vanshala: 25-26 October 2013

Vidya Bandhus attended the Vanshala of the Senior Section of Vidya Bhawan School at the Scout Camp site and of the Junior Section at the Jaat Vishram Sthali at Pushkar Ghati, in the Ajmer district, on 25-26 October 2013. Shri Harish Kapuria, Shri Jagmohan Dave, Shri Revati Raman Shrimali, Shri Gopal Bumb and Shri J.P. Shrimali went from Udaipur, while Dr. Rama Dani, Ms. Madhulika Naag and Ms. Neelima Jha from Ajmer attended Vanshala along with their family members. They observed the Shreni-karya, participated in Maun-vela and camp-fire programme; and shared their experiences with the students.

Annual Hike: 29 September 2013

The Annual Hike of Vidya Bhawan Vidya Bandhu Sangh was held at Badbadeshwar Mahadev on 29th September 2013. Over a hundred Vidya Bandhus attended the Hike with their families. Formal introduction session was held, the atmosphere was filled with poems, songs and good humor. Games were played. Mouth-watering varieties were part of the snacks and lunch, which were sponsored by Vidya Bandhu Tej Singh Saruparia. Vidya Bandhus of 1950s to 70s recalled that bubbles of gas used to come from the bottom of the pond or because of some chemical reaction of the roots of the tree with water; and the pond got the name badbadeshwar meaning bubbles in Mewari dialect.

Contribution for Renovations at School: August 2013

Vidya Bandhu Shri Bipin Mehta and Ms. Herta Mehta have further contributed Euro15980 (approx. Rs.13.71 Lakh) to Vidya Bhawan Society in August 2013 for the infrastructural development in the School. In March 2013, they had contributed Euro2000 (approx. Rs.1.38 Lakh) in March 2013 for renovation of a classroom and other facilities in Vidya Bhawan Sr. Sec. School. Shri Bipin, along with Ms. Herta, visited his alma mater twice in 2013.

Foundation Day: 21 July 2013

The Foundation Day of Vidya Bhawan was celebrated on 21st July 2013. Vidya Bandhus planted 21 trees in the campus of Vidya Bhawan Sr. Sec. School early in the morning. Hony. Secretary Harish Kapuria informed that all the 21 trees planted last year are having healthy growth. Vidya Bandhus then reached Vidya Bhawan Prakriti Sadhna Kendra and attended the celebrations. Vidya Bandhu Dr. Shanti Swaroop Shrimali was the Chief Guest and President of Vidya Bhawan Society Shri Riaz Tehsin presided over the function. Heads of Institutions, staff and students were present in the rustling bamboo groove. Colorful cultural programmes were presented and saplings of local varieties of trees were planted.

Annual General Meeting: 30 June 2013

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Vidya Bhawan Vidya Bandhu Sangh was held on 30th June 2013. Vice-President Ms. Pushpa Sharma chaired the AGM in the absence of the President Shri M.K. Agrawal and presented the annual report on his behalf. 61 members attended the AGM, where discussions were held on the points of the annual report and development of the school. The Chairperson and Secretary Shri Harish Kapuria answered the queries. They explained that how Vidya Bandhu Foundation facilitates funds for the works of the Sangh. On the demand of some of the members, a committee was constituted to look into the matter of registration of Sangh. On behalf of the Treasurer Shri Arvind Singhal, Joint Secretary Shri Jagmohan Dave presented the audited accounts, budget for the next year and list of long standing dues to be written off. The President's report, audited accounts, budget for the next year and the list of long standing dues to be written off were passed unanimously. The meeting ended with refreshments and thanks to the Chair.

Vidya Bandhu Sneh Milan Samaroh: 20 April 2013

Vidya Bandhus gathered in large numbers in the Sneh Mian Samaroh-2013 on Founder's Day, 20 April 2013. Vidya Bandhu Sangh has been celebrating the birth anniversary of the Founder of Vidya Bhawan 'Bhai Sahab' Dr. Mohan Sinha Mehta since 1988. The Batch of 1977-78 was honored this year. Old student of the batch gathered a day before the Founder's Day; went to Vidya Bhawan Prakriti Sadhna Kendra to re-visit the hike experience; at dusk they sat silent and reflected in the maun-vela at Shilpgram; next day they held the Morning Assembly- with Shri Harpreet Singh Puri from China in school uniform- and discussed the state of affairs of the School with the President of Vidya Bhawan Society Shri Riaz Tehsin and the Principal of Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School Shri E.H. Qazi; and before going for a sumptuous lunch they gathered at the Conference Hall of Vidya Bhawan G.S. Teacher's College to enjoy a well researched documentary on 'The History of Yoga' by their batch-mate Ms. Deepika Kothari. A packed hall of around one hundred Vidya Bandhus from different batches appreciated the documentary.

Clouds gathered in the day and for the second consecutive year, downpour was on cards at dusk. But as in the previous year, the evening on 20th April shined with the smiles of Vidya Bandhus who gathered with their families at the old Saturday Assembly area. They belonged to the span of eight decades of Vidya Bhawan and introduced each other in informal interactions. The Samaroh began with floral tributes to the Founder by the Chief Guest and former teacher at the School Ms. Veena Kesari, the Chairperson and Principal Chief Engineer of North-Western Railway Shri Yatindra Pal Singh, President of Vidya Bhawan Society Shri Riaz Tehsin and the office bearers of the Sangh. Vice-President of the Sangh Ms. Pushpa Sharma presented the report on behalf of the President Shri M.K. Agrawal. The Silver Jubilee issue of the annual journal of the Sangh 'Vidya Bandhu Mukhpatra', edited by Dr. Kusum Mathur, was released by the guests. Retired Principal of the School Ms. Pushpa Sharma was facilitated. Long serving worker of the School Shri Jamnalal was honored by the batch of 1977-78. Ms. Asha Mehta and Ms. Krishna Bayati recited their poems. Group song 'ye mausam hansta-hansta, ye rasta khilta-khilta', presented under the direction of former music teacher Ms. Suman Athle, reminded of the music classes in the bygone days. Wives of Vidya Bandhus presented a Rajasthani group-dance in colorful traditional costumes.

Around fifty students from the batch of 1977-78 were honored. They were presented memento and group-photo of their class. Representing the batch, Shri Harpreet Puri said that old students still remember Vidya Bhawan because it gave broad and open-minded education with individual attention to every child.

Chief Guest Ms. Veena Kesari gave her blessings to Vidya Bandhus and underlined the salient features unique to Vidya Bhawan. President of Vidya Bhawan Society Shri Riaz Tehsin said that Sneh Milan is being celebrated for 25 years and the enthusiasm gives hope of a brighter future for Vidya Bhawan and the Sangh. Chairperson Shri Y.P. Singh recalled his days in Vidya Bhawan and said that good schools are made by students and teachers; and not by money. Serious thought must be given to effects of the increasing role of money in education. Amod-Pramod Mantri Shri Gopal Bumb informed about the scholarships and contributions of Vidya Bhandus for the school and thanked the guests. The Samaroh ended with a delicious Sneh Bhoj.
